If there are any long-term readers (there has to be at least one, right?

), you may have noticed a small decline in the number of posts here from the end of March til now. Check out the archive count on the right to see what I'm talking about. Now all together, say 'Why Sam, what's happening?'
I'm glad you asked.
I made a decision then to start a linkblog over at bluedot.us, which by the way, is a great del.icio.us-type site, even better in some parts I reckon and doesn't look so functional without style. Plus they have a cool bookmarklet to add things without having to navigate away from the page. If you're familiar with del.icio.us, well the key difference with bluedot.us is that you get to add notes to each link you add, so I've been putting some short thoughts for each link there. Meanwhile, this blog you're reading now will be reserved for more original pieces, or if I feel the need to comment further on a link or a set of links.
So if I come across a cool link, it'll go on bluedot.us with a note saying 'cool stuff!'. If I want to whinge, or give/seek advice or whatever else, that'll go here.
The reasoning behind this was because I realised it was taking me too long to put up cool links on my blog, because I have to think of a title, then because its a full-on blog, I feel compelled to write more. The linkblog allowed me to click a button, enter in some short precise thoughts, click add and I'm done, plus it's easier for you to read without filtering through my rambling. The linkblog is updated with a few items daily (depending on the stuff I find), while this blog will be updated weekly or more often if I have time or something important to write about.
This bluedot.us component will be completely integrated into my new blog design, but that's taking longer than I thought so rather than linkblogging to an invisible audience, I'll let you guys know about it before. I will be adding some custom code to merge the bluedot.us feed with my main blog feed in the new design too so you don't have to subscribe to two RSS feeds (I thought feedburner would save me the effort by merging feeds, but it doesn't do that).
