I know there probably are other startups coming out from Monash, but this is the first evidence I've seen so far. The guy's email indicates he's a post-grad student, tutor, lecturer or otherwise employed by Monash (otherwise students don't get the privilege of having out names in our email addresses

). Hope he doesn't mind me spreading his little note.
Equal partner with 5 other students, so just under 17%, not bad. It's interesting that they actually advertise that bit. Guess it's a subtle way of indicating it's a startup, and hopefully attracting those who understand and enjoy the challenge of working at a startup. That and of course, the limited pay, at least at first. Wonder what the 'novel financial services enterprise' is though...
I'd be a bit hesitant though if I was trusting my customers' financial information to a student with little experience, though it doesn't mention under or post grad. It's one thing dealing with a customer's personal information already with the privacy laws, but financial seems a step more risky, especially with the specific regulations out there.
But all in all, it's cool seeing evidence of a startup in progress. Good luck guys!
Also noticed another poster today around the electrical engineering corridors for a Java software developer at
Elevate Mobile Technologies, a Melbourne-based startup, tackling mobile devices.
"Elevate addresses the users'
perspective of the existing gap between the mobile and Internet worlds
in order to create a truely converged and harmonised mobile Internet."
Interesting stuff, and they seem pretty active in developing standards which leads me to think they could be post-grads. Shit website though - get with the times!
