So the PS3 came out this morning, selling for 999 bucks (unless you went to JB HiFi, who are selling it for an awesome discounted price of 998 bucks, yes, 1 dollar saved!). Apparently some stores did sell out though, meeting all their pre-orders but none left to sell.
Meanwhile, Microsoft releases a new bundle, with Xbox 360 Premium, Gears of War, PGR3, Crackdown (with access to the Halo 3 Multiplayer beta), DOA4 plus 2 Arcade games for 699 bucks, compared to a price of around 200 more if sold separately (I reckon its more, but that's what the email says). Only available at JB HiFi on presentation of the
newsletter (whether they check or not is another question). It's a great offer, especially if you've been hanging out until now so you can check out all 3 next-gen consoles first before buying one. It's another 49 bucks more than what I paid at launch, and you get heaps more, damn early-adopter syndrome

.
It's nice to know that Microsoft has a sense of humour - they've sent a British gaming mag
the price difference between a 360 and a PS3 in beer [via

UPDATE: It looks like that wasn't the only thing Microsoft did to pour water on the PS3 launch:
Ah finally we see some funny witty advertising from Microsoft. If only they'd put this much effort into their other advertising campaigns...
