Drive:Activated logo
hi there!

I see you've stumbled on to my humble home on the net, Drive:Activated. My name's Sam, I'm an ambitious and driven uni student, residing in Melbourne, Australia, wanting to make my mark on our world. This is my site, which is mainly just my blog and some other bits. There's no definite theme to my blog, just anything that interests me, and currently that's web trends, startups, ideas and cool stuff. Check it out, leave me a comment, click on 'Who is this?' to find out more about me, or drop me a line by clicking on 'Let's Talk'. Hope you enjoy it!

After a long and boring flight (the Qantas 767 I took didn't have their on-demand entertainment system, or the TV screen on the back of the seat for that matter - the food was surprisingly good though), I made it to Hong Kong and will be here for the next couple of weeks. The internet here's still not 100% after the Taiwan earthquake, plus the fact that I'm no longer living in whoop-whoop anymore here (I've got a heap of restaurants, Maccas, HMV, adidas, Starbucks, a huge shopping centre and the MTR to get to everywhere else all a 10 minute walk max Big Smile) mean that posting will probably be a bit more sporadic while I'm here. The net seems particularly slow to Australian sites - US sites are a bit better, so I've signed up to the BlogMailr.com service to hopefully work around this - its a service that allows you to post blog posts using email.

My cantonese seems to be keeping up ok after not using it for a year, but I'm still struggling sometimes - I managed to walk into the ladies section of a clothing store yesterday and didn't realise until I was in there, while the sales people were trying to work out whether I was cross-dressing seeing as I wasn't responding to them Wink. Its unfortunate how bad the english skills are here though - the local Maccas keeps a small version of their menu on the counter so people can order by pointing because the school kids behind the counter can't understand the tourists.

Alright, I gotta get moving before the cleaning lady gets here and gets angry. I've got a HK mobile number by the way, so I won't be receiving any calls or messages on my Australian mobile number until I get back. My new HK mobile number is +852 92206467.

P.S. Sony apparently decided their blu-ray platform is to be porn-free, so if you want your high-def porn, you better get a HD DVD player. Luckily I bought a 360 Big Smile.
